Registered Wordsmiths is the community behind Ways to Say — a place to study, practice, and master the art of saying things well.

I'm building this space for people who love words. The folks who appreciate a clever turn of phrase, admire a perfectly written sentence, and can't help wondering why some combinations of words just satisfy their brain.

This isn't high-brow academia. And it's definitely not the kind of dry language study that bored you to tears in school.

It's a spot for people to freely play with language.

To pull apart great writing and figure out what makes it work.

To borrow techniques from brilliant writers, comedians, poets, lyricists, advertisers, screenwriters, and everyday people — and try them yourself.

To share something you wrote and have other people who care about words actually care about it with you.

And, over time, to develop an instinct that can look almost esoteric from the outside:

“a way with words.”

Except by then you'll know it was never magic, or a silver tongue you weren't born with:

It was simply a skill you cultivated over time.

And you'll start seeing possibilities in language you didn't notice before, you'll have more fodder to express the same ideas, and most importantly: you'll find the right way to say exactly what you're thinking.
